It depicts Simo Häyhä (1905–2002), a Finnish sniper who became known during the Winter War against the Soviet Union and earned the nickname “The White Death” due to his extraordinary achievements. Häyhä fought primarily in the Kollaa region and mainly used a Finnish Mosin-Nagant rifle without a scope. He was severely wounded during the war but survived and later served for a short time in the Finnish Army. Simo Häyhä is considered one of the most famous snipers of the Second World War. He killed more than 500 Soviet soldiers in only around 100 days of combat.
