It depicts Aarne Juutilainen (1904–1976), a Finnish officer who became known for his role in the battles of Kollaa during the Winter War. Prior to this, he had served for five years in the French Foreign Legion in Morocco, earning him the nickname “The Terror of Morocco.” At Kollaa, he commanded a company of Infantry Regiment 34 and became a well-known figure of the Finnish resistance due to his determined leadership. During the Continuation War, he continued to serve as a company and battalion commander and later also took part in the Lapland War.
