The Sd.Kfz. 234/4 (Sonderkraftfahrzeug 234/4) was a variant of the Sd.Kfz. 234 series, a wheeled armoured vehicle of the German Wehrmacht during World War II. Equipped with a 7.5 cm PaK 40/L46 anti-tank gun, it was designed to combat enemy tanks and combined mobility with firepower. The Sd.Kfz. 234/4 had a diesel engine, unusual for the German vehicles, which produced 210 hp and gave the vehicle a top speed of around 90 km/h (forward and backward) on roads. The radio operator could drive the vehicle on his rear-facing chair and steering wheel. With its 8x8 all-wheel drive, it was extremely off-road capable and could perform well in difficult terrain. The crew consisted of four men: driver, radio operator, gunner and commander. The open fighting cabin allowed good operation of the main weapon, but offered only limited protection from the weather and enemy fire. The vehicle's armor was relatively light, with a thickness of up to 30 mm, and primarily offered protection against infantry weapons and splinters. The Sd.Kfz. 234/4 was used in various theaters of war, especially in the last years of the war, where it played an important role in mobile defense and retreat thanks to its speed and powerful armament. Despite its advantages, however, it was not a decisive vehicle in the war due to the limited production numbers.
