After the de facto annexation of the "remaining Czech Republic" in March 1939 by the 3rd Reich, numerous items of equipment fell into the hands of the Germans. So also tank models from the company CKD. Among other things, the so-called LT vz. 38 models, which compared to the German tanks 1 & 2 of the time did much better. So the Heereswaffenamt decided to continue building what is now known as the Pz.Kpfw. 38 (t) known model. At the beginning of the war, 98 models were available. In the later course of the war, other superstructures were placed on the hull instead of the rotating tower, which resulted in very successful models such as the Marder series or the Jagdpanzer 38 (t) Hetzer.
