The Panzerjäger 38(t) Hetzer was based on the very successful platform of the Panzer 38(t). In the course of the war, there were several „Panzerjäger“ variants on this basis. But they were quite weakly armoured. In March 1943, Colonel General Guderian demanded the construction of an all-round protected light tank. Lafette and chains had to be slightly widened for this new tank. The armament consisted of a modified variant of the 7.5 cm PaK 39 L/48 and a remotely controlled MG from the combat room on the roof. The slope of the armour in combination with the small size proved to be very efficient even if this led to a lack of space for the 4-man crew inside. As early as March 1944, the first models were handed over to the troop and 2584 models were manufactured by the end of the war. Even after the war, 158 agitators under the name "G13" were still on duty in the Swiss army until 1970.
