The 7,5cm PaK 40 was in use from the end of 1941 and was based on the 5.0cm PaK 38. Due to the scarcity of materials, which occurred more and more during the war, the PaK 40 had to be made of steel and no longer made of light metal, as was the case with the PaK 38. This increased the weight of the gun enormously and therefore it mostly had to be moved with towing vehicles. Apart from that, it was extremely effective against most allied tanks until the end of the war and was able to fight them effectively even without a tungsten core, which was imperative with the previous models over time. Up to 23,300 copies had been made by the end of the war. Furthermore, the gun barrels were also installed in self-propelled guns like the Marder series, which were extremely successful tank destroyers. In the course of the Soviet arms aid, some specimens turned up even in North Vietnam.

This review video is recommended for further historical information and background information on the model.
